Want to know more about what makes a great NYC real estate broker? Find out here.
What Makes A Great NYC Real Estate Broker?
In short, because buying and selling real estate in New York City is very complicated. It can be arduous, time-consuming, and frustrating, Working with a veteran real estate broker who can anticipate any hiccups will absolutely pay off in the long term.
- Be sure to vet the individual broker or team AND the brokerage that they are associated with (in our case, Corcoran). This will allow you to know that the brokerage has vetted your broker or agent on top of your evaluation of them since the larger brokerages like Corcoran will only allow veteran, experienced agents, or those that come highly recommended, to work with them.
- It’s important to work with someone that you trust. Honesty is always the best policy, and that is non-negotiable in real estate. Your broker will likely know more about your financial profile than anyone else in your life, so you need to be sure you can trust them to keep your best interests in mind.
- Work with a veteran broker who has been through similar markets to the one that you’re buying in – if it’s a buyers market, ask your broker about another time in their career when they experienced a buyer’s market, and what they did to help transactions succeed.
- Work with someone that listens to you. If your agent is showing you properties that are out of your price range, consider switching. If they won’t listen to you about price, they won’t listen in other places.
- Look for someone that will treat you exactly the same, no matter the price point. If you are spending $400,000 or $4M. Price should not change the level of service you experience.
- Your broker should value your relationship. They should be honest, passionate, hardworking, and constantly showing you how much your relationship means.
- You can always change your mind. If your current broker relationship isn’t working out, it’s 100% okay to switch to someone else. Be upfront and honest with them, and then part ways.
